I learned a couple new writing techniques from the first thoughts chapter in the goldberg book. The thought of just writing without stopping seems so simple but it is so hard. You naturally want to write a sentence and right after read it to make sure it fits into the point you want to get across and makes sense. When I stop in the middle of my writing process I usually loose a few thoughts that I thought were pretty good. This makes it hard to continue the writing process because I am trying remember the thoughts that I originally had Which is blocking out the new thoughts. The simple thought to just write non stop seems genius. You will get all of your thoughts out onto paper and even if they don't make sense you can still rewrite the paper and put your original thoughts in the order you want. This is easy because all of your thoughts are right in front of you. It Is the worst feeling ever to have so many good ideas in your head about what to write about and then forget them all.

The introduction was a fun piece to read. It took us through the writing development stages of Goldberg from beginning to end. Goldberg was able to show her deepest desires as a child to her greatest understandings as an adult. It also showed us how she went about in her teaching methods.

Her development into a writer took a long time. It was interesting that as a child she did not write her own thought but more of what she thought the teacher wanted. With her being such a great writer I would think that her own thought would naturally pore onto the paper. The fact that she knew what she wanted to write about but instead choose to write about what she knew the teachers wanted shows how good she was going to become.

I also liked how she compared writing to everything. She was able to connect writing in some way or another to other activities in many different ways. She also used her teaching methods in the same way which was also interesting. Teaching everyone from delinquents to nuns the same way is a great way to show how everything is connected to writing.

Introduction

My name is Quamie Beck and i am a student at Eastern Michigan University. I am a sophomore this year and i am working towards a degree in Political Science. I am from all the way from Georgia and i come to Michigan to experience different parts of the word. Some activities I'm involved in are football, wrestling, and baseball but not on any of the school teams. I am apart of the Eastern MMA team. I am a very competitive person which is why i play so many sporty. I'm am very passionate and dedicated about each sport i participate in. My dedication for sports gives me the drive to give my all to do my very best. I am not very big on writing so any comments about how i can improve will be appreciated.
